The kneeling hip flexor stretch is great if you spend a lot of time sitting at your desk or in your car as it releases the hard working muscles of the inner hip. This stretch is often practiced in yoga classes and can be difficult for some people depending on the flexibility of the hip joint. If this stretch is difficult at first, stick with it because over time those muscles will start to loosen up.
How to preform this stretch:
- Grab a mat and kneel down. Bring one leg in front so one foot is flat on the mat in front. Your back knee will be resting on the mat.
- Lean your hips forward keeping your sacrum tucked under to protect your low back. You will feel your back inner hip start to stretch open.
- Hold this stretch for one minute on each side.
