Why do you enjoy teaching yoga classes at Arrow?
I spent my working career in a stressful environment so in my “encore” yoga teaching career I like using that knowledge to help my students. I enjoy giving them tools to de-stress. Yoga helps all of us find joy in our lives through breathing and stretching, with a little fun thrown in!
What tips would you give to someone who is new to yoga?
Relax, take your time as you become familiar with the new ways of moving your body. Above all else, enjoy yourself! One of the beautiful things about yoga is that there is no perfect pose; each of us fits or “wears” the pose differently.
What is your favorite yoga pose?
Viparita Karani, or Legs Up the Wall pose. It has the power to cure whatever ails you!
Here are some fun facts about Sue!
1. I didn’t start practicing yoga until I was 46 and became a yoga teacher when I was 51—it’s never too late!
2. I am part of a female acappella quartet called Tonal Eclipse—I sing bass!
3. I studied the ancient language of Sanskrit as part of my yoga teacher training.
