Ginny is a fighter! Beating cancer and taking charge of her health are just a couple of examples of how strong she is. She always has a positive attitude and has put a lot of focus into her health and fitness which has helped her lose 25lbs! Way to go Ginny, keep up the great work!

What motivates you to stay active?
Getting out for a walk daily or doing some sort of exercise keeps me feeling energized and fresh. I’d say overall health and well-being is my main motivation, but there are lots of reasons. Since I started at Arrow I have lost about 25 lbs and I am definitely stronger than I was. As a cancer survivor (7 years!), my oncologist told me that the best way to avoid a recurrence is to exercise. I also know that as I get older, strength training is really good for balance and bone density. For me, taking a mental break and stepping away from work and doing some exercise can help me maintain focus and motivation, being a busy recruiter here at Arrow!
What do you like most about the fitness center?
I love that you offer personal training and the group fitness classes. I am definitely the kind of person who puts everything/everyone else first; I can make every excuse to do something other than workout, so working with Jessica and Kristen with personal training keeps me accountable, and also keeps my workouts fresh and easy. I don’t have to think too hard about it – I just show up and work as hard as I can. It’s been awesome that you could adjust to online training and classes – that has been a true blessing with COVID! Right from the beginning, we have been able to continue our workouts together. I have also been signing up for more of the classes online, now that they aren’t limited due to the gym capacity and they send recordings so I can do them when it’s convenient.
What is your favorite exercise?
I love to hike, and losing weight and gaining strength and cardio endurance has really helped me. I can almost keep up with my family, which is so awesome. I don’t feel like I am holding them up too much like I used to. I am learning to like core/abs work, although when I first started I whined a lot about any sort of ab workout (Jessica can attest).
Here are some fun facts about Ginny!
1. I am an empty nester as of a week ago – my youngest (daughter) went off to college at Montana State – go Bobcats! Let’s hope they don’t get sent home too quickly.
2. I ran a half-marathon in 2018, which was a big reason I wanted to lose weight…my knees and hips hurt too much. I wasn’t the slowest person – yay!
3. I love connecting people, which is probably why I love recruiting so much! My success with matching people with careers is much better than my love-matches though.
